Dr. Darby is a dedicated Sociologist, Ordained Minister, and Nonprofit CEO, whose extensive education and over 15 years of ministry have profoundly impacted communities both locally and globally. With a career rooted in service, Dr. Darby has devoted himself to reducing poverty and fostering self-sufficiency, particularly within underserved populations. His comprehensive programs emphasize leadership, education, entrepreneurship, and community engagement.
In addition to his numerous roles, Dr. Darby has served as a Youth Pastor, Discipleship Instructor, and Theology Instructor, enriching his ministry with diverse experiences. A published author in theological circles, Dr. Darby advocates for embracing the boundless possibilities of faith and experiencing God beyond comfort zones. His unwavering belief in limitless divine potential continues to inspire and transform the lives he touches.
An Air Force veteran, Dr. Darby served as a Chaplain Captain for seven years across eleven duty locations. During his military tenure, he advised leadership on religious, moral, and ethical standards, providing crucial counseling and trauma-informed care to over 5,000 military personnel. His deployment to Qatar, Iraq, and Kuwait earned him the Medal of Joint Commendation for ministering to over 1,000 joint military members.
As the founder and CEO of Unity in the Community Nonprofit, Dr. Darby has spearheaded initiatives that annually offer transitional and affordable housing to over 200 veterans in the Washington, DC area. His notable achievements include launching the first Full-Service Center for Veterans in Prince George’s County, Maryland, and establishing Unity Academy, a school dedicated to promoting self-sufficiency through education and entrepreneurship. This institution has successfully trained and placed over 200 students in jobs both locally and internationally.
Dr. Darby currently serves at The Ramp Church DMV under Bishop S.Y. Younger, fulfilling roles as an Elder and the Non-Governmental Organization Director. His ministry work spans the United States, Pakistan, and Brazil. He remains an influential advocate for veteran affairs and transitional housing models in the Washington, DC, and Maryland regions.
Dr. Darby’s academic credentials include a BA in Sociology & Anthropology from Morgan State University, an MS in Criminal Justice & Public Administration from Liberty University, and an M.Div. in Theology from Liberty School of Divinity. He further honed his leadership skills through Duke University’s Christian Leadership Cohort, where he earned an Innovation Grant to launch a Discipleship and Workforce Program in Washington, DC, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
His academic journey culminated in a Doctorate in Ministry from Wesley Theological Seminary, where his dissertation on fostering community beyond the walls is featured in a current theological publication.
